OIC of America Hosting Town Hall Events in Philly

OIC of America invites neighbors to a series of townhalls launching the Delaware Valley Alliance—an aggressive movement toward economic justice that enriches people’s lives and economic well-being, while addressing a critical need for today’s economy.

The regressive gas tax disproportionately affects forgotten people living in forgotten places, while the public works that it funds disproportionately employ those already overrepresented in the construction trades. With an $8-$10 billion annual PennDOT budget—$3.4 billion in the five-county Philadelphia region alone—as well as an impending state-level labor shortage, we have an opportunity to ensure those who pay the most are able to benefit from the jobs created.

OIC of America President and CEO Louis J. King II recently spoke with the Philadelphia Tribune:

“If the bottom falls out of the economy tomorrow, [infrastructure] projects are going to continue. They’ve been authorized. They’re going to happen. In the midst of all of those billions of dollars, it begs the question, who gets the money in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?

The first town hall will take place at Ezekiel Baptist Church in Southwest Philadelphia on Thursday, April 17, 6-8 pm, with town halls to follow in Chester (April 24), Norristown (May 1), North Philadelphia (May 15) and beyond.
