Gerald Alston, the revered lead singer for the Grammy Award-winning R&B group the Manhattans, is the first entertainer to become a part of the new OICA Celebrity Ambassador Program(CAP). OICA Celebrity Ambassadors are leaders in the entertainment industry, representing the fields of film, television, music, sports and beyond.
The program is designed to help raise awareness about OICA/OIC and the work being done to support and enable the economically disadvantaged, unemployed and under-employed people of all races and backgrounds to become productive, more fulfilled members of society. This work is being done through a Network of 35 Affiliates located in 22 states around the US. The organization’s motto is “Helping People Help Themselves “and Gerald Alston is a huge advocate of helping others to reach their full potential.
Gerald Alston works with OICA to develop and send clear messages that access and a clear pathway to economic self-sufficiency is in reach with the kind of life-changing supportive programs offered by OICA/OIC. When asked why he chose to become a Celebrity Ambassador for OICA, he stated, “I want to do it because first of all, somebody helped me, and gave me a chance. When I met the Manhattans, they saw my potential and gave me a chance, and God has blessed me over the past 47 years to continue to sing, have a voice and still satisfy my fans.” He went on to say “I realize that my many fans give by coming to our shows and seeing me perform and through CAP, and my strong desire to help others, I’ve joined forces with OICA to send a clear message that your life can be transformed with hard work and by the many programs and services offered by OICA/OIC.
