OIC of America and the University of Minnesota’s Institute for Engineering in Medicine (IEM) are building a bold, inclusive STEM pipeline that reaches youth in both urban and rural communities, from the Twin Cities to Duluth and beyond. Together, we’re dedicated to creating hands-on, accessible learning opportunities for K-12 students with the help of educators, employers and community partners to create a national workforce pathway.

Why Exposure Matters

When students have relationships with professionals in STEM roles, they can see themselves and are more likely to become industry professionals and leaders of tomorrow. OICA’s three signature programs — STEMFests, STEM Saturdays and Mathletes — spur curiosity and instill confidence in our next generation of innovators.

STEMFests

Held annually in six cities (and counting) across the U.S. with hands-on opportunities for STEM activities for pre-K-12 students

STEM Saturdays

Monthly events for K-8 students where STEM topics are explored from chemistry to agriculture in fun and interactive learning modules

Mathletes

Exclusive Minneapolis pilot where students learn how math is used in sports analytics, equipment design and strategy

Using STEM as an entrypoint, STEMLinx is building the workforce of the future.
Across the country, employers are facing increasing demand for skilled workers in science, technology, engineering, and innovation-driven industries.
At the same time, too many young people are not being meaningfully connected to these careers early in life.
STEMLinx was designed to bridge this gap by introducing students to STEM early and connecting that exposure to long-term career pathways
